Banner University Medicine, in partnership with the University of Arizona, is seeking a Physician Assistant to join our growing Orthopedic Surgery team in Tucson.

This is an exciting opportunity to practice in a collaborative academic environment alongside fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeons, residents, medical students, and experienced Advanced Practice Providers while caring for a diverse patient population.

This position offers a blend of inpatient and outpatient responsibilities with exposure to a broad spectrum of orthopedic conditions and procedures. The successful candidate will become an integral member of a highly collaborative multidisciplinary team dedicated to delivering exceptional patient care, advancing medical education, and supporting clinical innovation.

Position Highlights
Academic practice in partnership with the University of Arizona

Collaborative team of orthopedic surgeons, APPs, residents, and medical students

Combination of inpatient and outpatient orthopedic care

No call

No weekends

Practice at both Banner University Medical Center - Main Campus and South Campus

Responsibilities
The Physician Assistant will work closely with the orthopedic team to:
Evaluate and manage orthopedic patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings

Perform comprehensive histories and physical examinations

Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physicians

Assist with perioperative and postoperative patient management

Provide patient and family education

Coordinate care across multidisciplinary teams

Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record

Qualifications
Current, unrestricted Arizona Physician Assistant license (or ability to obtain prior to start)

Current prescribing privileges, including DEA registration for controlled substances

Current BLS and CPR certification

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Strong clinical decision-making and critical thinking abilities

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment

Surgical or orthopedic experience preferred, but not required

New graduates with a strong interest in orthopedics are encouraged to apply
