Cellular Systems Engineer

Our client, a leading innovator in autonomous vehicle technology, is seeking a Cellular Systems Engineer to join their team. As a Cellular Systems Engineer, you will be part of the Connectivity Optimization Department supporting cross-functional engineering teams. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong analytical skills, proactive problem-solving, and excellent collaboration abilities, which will align successfully in the organization.

Location: Foster City, CA

Pay Range: $79/hour + Benefits

What's the Job?

• Work closely with field deployment teams to analyze device and service performance attributes across connectivity systems.
• Develop programmatic tools to identify root causes of throughput drops, handover failures, and connectivity instabilities using chipset logs from Qualcomm and Samsung.
• Create automation solutions to process large-scale data efficiently, facilitating rapid troubleshooting and system improvements.
• Interpret key performance indicators (KPIs) and recommend system reconfigurations or architectural adjustments to enhance quality of service.
• Collaborate with system architecture and engineering teams to design and prototype connectivity solutions within 4G-LTE, 5G NR, WiFi, and GPS domains to meet autonomous driving requirements.

What's Needed?

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field.
• Expert-level knowledge of 4G-LTE and 5G-NR air interfaces, including PHY, MAC, RLC, PDCP, RRC, and NAS layers.
• Familiarity with IEEE 802.11 protocols and TCP/IP networking.
• Hands-on experience with modem-level chipset tools such as Qualcomm QXDM/QCAT and Samsung ShannonDM, along with Wireshark.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot complex live network performance issues, including mobility management and interference analysis, with 3-5+ years of relevant experience.
