Shift: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM

Experience:

• 12 months of experience with 3 months within the last 12 months.

• 18 months of Medical Surgical Float Pool experience.

• Experience with Epic is preferred.

• Experience with Cerner is preferred.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have a Alabama license or compact license (required after submission).

• This role will require floating to multiple units

• Travel only, local not allowed. Candidates must live >65 miles from facility to be submitted.

• Flu vaccination required for submission. Religious and medical declinations accepted.

• Anyone who worked as Staff at a facility in this program in the last 6 months cannot be submitted.

• Anyone currently working at a facility in this program cannot be submitted.

Additional Details:

Required Skills/Experience: First-time travelers are accepted with at least 18 months of Med-Surg experience and Epic or Cerner experience. At least 1 year of trauma/surgical experience is required for the Trauma Surgical unit. Trauma Surgical unit skills required include wound care, chest tubes, NGTs, and IV skills. Neuroscience unit skills required include IV starts, blood draws from central lines, tracheostomy care, PEG and NGT care, colostomy/ostomy care, wound care, chest tubes, surgical-site care, C-collars, abdominal binders, and restraints. 5 North requires tracheostomy care, chest tubes, PEG tubes, wound care, drains, Foley care, and IV starts. 3 South skills required include PCA pumps, wound care with negative-pressure dressings, dressing changes, Foley care, and Hemovac/JP drains. 3 North skills required include tracheostomy care, wound care, wound vacs, IV starts, and CVL dressing changes.

Preferred Skills/Experience: Chemo experience is highly preferred.

Baptist blackout 2026 RTO dates include Martin Luther King Jr. Day: 1/19-20; Valentine’s Day (week): 2/13 -16; the entire month of March; Easter Weekend: 4/18 – 20; Mother’s Day Weekend: 5/10-12; Memorial Day (week): 5/24 – 5/26; Father’s Day Weekend: 6/14-16; Fourth of July: 7/3-6; Labor Day weekend: 8/30-9/1; Halloween: 10/30-11/2; Thanksgiving: 11/26-30; and Christmas and New Year’s: 12/21-1/1. Parking is limited to the 2nd through 4th levels of the parking deck.

Unit Details: The Trauma Surgical unit handles general surgery and vascular surgery patients. The Neuroscience unit handles CVA, TBI, seizures, AMS, spinal fusions, craniotomies, degenerative diseases, post-trauma cases, and angiograms. The MedSurg/Oncology unit includes all patient types except stroke and MI, along with palliative care, ETOH withdrawal, and MS/Oncology patients. The Clinical Decision Unit handles general MedSurg patients, including COPD, CHF, diabetes, MRSA, VRE, C-Diff, COVID, pneumonia, renal failure, sepsis, UTI, and end-of-life comfort needs. The Orthopedics unit handles orthopedic and spine cases, including joint replacements, fractures, fusions, and laminectomies. The MS/Ortho/Urology unit includes urology, ENT, orthopedic, and MedSurg patients. General float-pool care includes tracheotomy care, suctioning, O2 therapy, ostomy care, Foley care, external catheter care, PEG/NGT care and use, wound care, chest tubes, central-line care, pressure-ulcer management and preventive measures, falls-prevention management, and restraints. Patient ratios are 1:5-6 on 6 North, 5 South, and 4 South; 5 North is 1:6 for RNs and LPNs; 3 South is 1:5, or 1:6 if MedSurg; and 3 North is 1:5-6. The 5 North unit includes telemetry monitoring on hallway monitors and by telemetry technicians on the ground floor. Telemetry is monitored by telemetry technicians, and RNs are required to interpret and confirm q4 hours strip readings. The 5 North unit includes chemotherapy administration if certified. IV pumps are Plum 360. Medication dispensing uses Omnicell. Monitors are Spacelabs.

Shift & Scheduling: Flexible contract hours: 36 or 48 per week. Weekend rotation is every other weekend or 4 weekend days per month. No call. Holiday expectations include one major and one minor seasonal holiday per policy. Holiday scheduling is not automatic for those dates, and time off is not contractually guaranteed before arrival. The schedule follows a 4-week cycle period; self-scheduling is not available, and Smart Square is used.

Floating Requirements: Floating may include any like unit/patient location: MS-MS, MS-ICU task, MS-ER/MS holds; ICU-ICU, ICU-MS task or limit of 3, and ICU-ER/ICU holds.

7 days maximum time off.
