Pay Range: $20.00 - $26.00 per hour

The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Administrative Assistant reports to the manager and provides essential support to the Cardiothoracic Surgery department. It involves managing administrative tasks, patient scheduling, facilitating patient interactions and ensuring compliance with existing regulatory and hospital policies and procedures. Will have strong organizational skill sets, excellent communication abilities and a commitment to patient-centered care.

As Administrative Assistant, a typical day might include the following:

  • Welcoming patients, families, visitors, and physicians while providing exceptional customer service
  • Demonstrating the ability to verify patient’s insurance benefits, obtaining insurance referrals and pre authorizations have been obtained
  • Supporting the satellite Lung Transplant and Advanced Heart Failure clinics for scheduling and diagnostics testing as needed
  • Scheduling appointments for patient consultations, procedures and visits with medical personnel and reminding upcoming appointments
  • Preparing, organizing, and maintaining reports and unit documentation
  • Collaborating with physicians, nurses, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to promote efficient workflows and positive patient experiences
  • Maintaining clerical operations within all modalities of the department
  • Supporting the daily operations of the department by maintaining supplies and ensuring an organized work environment

To be considered for this position, candidates must have an Associate degree, preferably with Bachelor’s degree. Strong communication, organizational, multitasking, and computer skills are essential, as is the ability to work effectively in a collaborative healthcare environment. With minimum of one (1) year experience in a medical office or hospital setting. Knowledgeable with Microsoft Office and proficient computer skills. Familiarity with office equipment such as copiers and fax machines. Must demonstrate willingness to learn. This is Monday-Friday from 9:00am-5:00pm.
