Position Summary:
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Low Voltage Cabling Technician to install, maintain, and troubleshoot structured cabling systems. This role supports commercial and industrial projects involving data, voice, security, and audiovisual systems.
Key Responsibilities:
* Install, terminate, label, and test low voltage cabling (Cat5e, Cat6, fiber optic, coax)
* Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and project specifications
* Install cable pathways including conduit, cable trays, J-hooks, and sleeves
* Perform cable testing using certification tools (Fluke or equivalent)
* Troubleshoot connectivity issues and perform repairs as needed
* Maintain accurate documentation of installations and service work
* Ensure all work meets industry standards (TIA/EIA, BICSI) and company quality expectations
* Follow all safety procedures and OSHA guidelines
* Coordinate with project managers, supervisors, and other trades on job sites
Requirements:
Qualifications:
* 1-3+ years of experience in low voltage cabling or related field
* Knowledge of structured cabling systems and installation practices
* Experience terminating RJ45 jacks, patch panels, and fiber (preferred)
* Ability to read construction drawings and wiring diagrams
* Familiarity with cable testing and certification equipment
* Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Physical Requirements:
* Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
* Comfortable working on ladders, lifts, and in tight spaces
* Ability to stand, bend, and work for extended periods
Preferred Qualifications:
* BICSI certification (Installer or Technician)
* OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
* Experience with access control, CCTV, or VoIP systems
Work Environment:
* Construction sites, commercial buildings, and office environments
* May require travel to job sites
* Occasional evening or weekend work based on project needs
