Job Details

The Unit Manager / Wound Care Nurse will oversee the day-to-day clinical operations of an assigned nursing unit while coordinating and supporting wound prevention and treatment throughout the facility. This individual will work closely with nursing leadership, providers, and the interdisciplinary team to ensure residents receive high-quality, individualized care.

Responsibilities

* Oversee daily nursing operations and resident care within an assigned unit
* Provide leadership, guidance, and clinical support to RNs, LPNs, CNAs, and other nursing staff
* Monitor resident conditions, care plans, clinical documentation, and changes in care needs
* Assist with staffing, assignments, and appropriate nursing coverage
* Support the orientation, training, coaching, and development of nursing staff
* Perform comprehensive skin and wound assessments and monitor residents at risk for skin breakdown
* Coordinate and provide wound treatments in accordance with provider orders and established clinical protocols
* Monitor wound healing and document progress, measurements, treatments, and changes in condition
* Develop and implement individualized wound prevention and treatment strategies
* Collaborate with physicians, wound care providers, dietitians, therapy, and other members of the interdisciplinary team
* Educate nursing staff on wound prevention, pressure injury prevention, skin integrity, and appropriate treatment techniques
* Ensure timely identification and documentation of new or worsening wounds
* Monitor compliance with repositioning, pressure-relieving interventions, and other preventative measures
* Maintain appropriate wound care supplies and help ensure treatments are completed as ordered
* Participate in quality assurance, performance improvement, audits, and regulatory surveys
* Ensure nursing and wound care practices meet applicable federal, state, and facility requirements
* Communicate with residents and families regarding wound care needs and treatment plans as appropriate
* Promote a culture of resident safety, accountability, teamwork, and clinical excellence

Qualifications

* Active nursing license in Maryland or ability to obtain
* Previous nursing experience in skilled nursing, long-term care, rehabilitation, or a similar healthcare setting
* Previous wound care experience strongly preferred
* Nursing leadership or supervisory experience preferred
* Wound care certification is a plus but not required unless otherwise specified
* Knowledge of wound assessment, treatment, prevention, and clinical documentation
* Strong clinical assessment and critical-thinking skills
* Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational abilities
* Ability to effectively educate and support nursing staff
* Commitment to compassionate, resident-centered care
