The Role and Impact
As a Software QA Test Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the quality and reliability of Intel's software products. Through systematic testing, you will help develop and maintain high standards, contributing directly to the functionality and performance of key technologies. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve creating and executing detailed test plans, analyzing results, and collaborating with development teams to resolve issues, ensuring software meets rigorous quality benchmarks.
In this role, you will identify and isolate defects across software systems and tool interfaces, drive thorough root cause investigations, collaborate directly with software development and engineering teams, and champion quality engineering best practices across the development lifecycle. Your work directly influences the stability, automated efficiency, and operational excellence of mission-critical software powering Intel Mask Operation.

Key Responsibilities:
Test Strategy & Systematic Execution
- Design, implement, and execute systematic software test plans, test cases, and test suites across diverse operational environments, toolsets, and system configurations.
- Formulate clear, repeatable test standards and validation procedures to verify software functionality against architectural specifications and engineering requirements.
- Validate end-to-end user workflows, system performance characteristics, and software interoperability within production and development environments.
Test Automation & Infrastructure
- Build, enhance, and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks to accelerate test execution and expand regression coverage.
- Validate multi-system integrations, data flows, and web service/API calls across interconnected tools and distributed systems.
- Integrate automated test suites into modern Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to enable continuous quality feedback and rapid validation cycles.
Debugging, Defect Triage & Root Cause Analysis
- Isolate complex, intermittent, and multifaceted software defects using modern debugging tools and systematic diagnostic methodologies.
- Conduct deep-dive root cause analyses (RCA) and partner with development teams to formulate, verify, and document effective corrective actions.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of test findings, defect metrics, and verification records to ensure complete end-to-end traceability.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Quality Advocacy
- Partner actively with software architects, development engineers, and operational stakeholders within IMO to resolve technical blockers and align on acceptance criteria.
- Participate in technical design and code reviews, providing actionable quality insights regarding system interfaces, scripting standards, and testability.
- Promote modern testing practices, fostering continuous improvement in test coverage, automated tooling, and team agility.

Qualifications:
You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Experience listed below would be obtained through a combination of your degree, research and or relevant previous job and or internship experiences.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline with 3+ years of hands-on experience in software quality engineering, validation, or software development; OR Master’s degree in a relevant technical field with 2+ years of experience; OR Ph.D. in a relevant technical field with no prior professional experience in the following:
- US Citizenship required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Security Clearance.
- Test automation development and scripting using languages such as Python, Bash, or equivalent.
- Hands-on experience debugging complex software stacks, including systematic root cause analysis, log analysis, and defect isolation tools.
- Testing web services/APIs (REST, RPC, etc.) and communication mechanisms across distributed or interconnected systems.
- Standard software testing levels and methodologies (unit, integration, functional, regression, and performance testing).
Preferred Qualifications:
- CI/CD & DevOps: Hands-on experience integrating test frameworks within CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins) and containerized test environments (e.g., Docker).
- Development Lifecycle: Working familiarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies and defect/project tracking workflows (e.g., Jira).
- Semiconductor / Manufacturing Systems Context: Exposure to semiconductor manufacturing software, EDA / layout processing tools, platform-level software, OS internals (Linux/Windows), or system computation software.
- Communication & Analytical Rigor: Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proven track record of clearly articulating technical issues to cross-functional engineering teams.
- Continuous Learning: Demonstrated passion for exploring emerging QA tools, automation frameworks, and modern quality assurance paradigms.

Annual Salary Range for jobs which could be performed in the US: $100,550.00-194,270.00 USD
