Full job description
L.M. Gill Welding & Manufacturing, a Defense manufacturing company located in Manchester, CT, is projecting substantial growth due to increases in DOD spending. We are looking for an experienced and innovative QC Technician/inspector to complement our team.
Duties and responsibilities include:
- Highly preferred to have experience using at least one of the following inspection measurement machines:
- CMM (utilizing RENISHAW Probes and ABERLINK measurement software)
- FARO Quantum S Max
- Set up and operate typical inspection tools and gages
- Reading and understanding blueprints of the complexity of the shipbuilding industry including Geometric Tolerancing
- Inspecting parts with close tolerances – sometimes +/- .0005 inch
- Checking manufacturing work by taking and recording measurements utilizing an array of instruments such as micrometers, vernier calipers, depth gages, height gages, dial bore gages
- Working as a team player and/or stay on task as a self-starting individual
- Adjusting to the ever-changing workflow and cross train and perform multiple inspections as required
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives through a willingness to think creatively to solve problems and accept better ways of doing things
- Working within and support the culture of an AS9100D and ISO9001:2015 structured environment
- Familiarity with calibration procedures and techniques
- Reviewing material certifications and ensure conformance to the appropriate specifications
In addition to the items outlined above:
The ideal candidate would have a minimum of 5 years Defense manufacturing experience performing inspection of parts, reviewing certifications and would possess a solid understanding of blueprint reading as well as PO and specification interpretation to ensure the products manufactured meet all PO and specification requirements. Attention to detail is a must. Experience in marking material using Pryor marking machine would also be a plus.
Must be a US CITIZEN and able to pass a drug screen and background check.
