ICC Pre-Stressed Concrete / Post-Tensioning (PTI) Level 2 Special Inspector-Full-time or Contract

SOCOTEC has an immediate opening for a IICC Pre-Stressed Concrete / Post-Tensioning (PTI) Level 2 Special Inspector for an approximately 12-week project at UNLV in Las Vegas, NV (or continuing on past the project if full-time and/or local to Las Vegas). This position may be available as either a full-time employee or independent contractor, depending on qualifications and availability.

The Inspector will be responsible for performing special inspections of pre-stressed and post-tensioned concrete construction in accordance with approved construction documents, applicable codes and standards, and project specifications. The Inspector will document inspection activities and findings and maintain clear and timely communication with the Project Manager, contractors, engineers, and client representatives.

Education / Certifications:

• Current PTI Level 2 certification appropriate to the project scope (bonded and/or unbonded, as applicable).
• Current ICC Pre-Stressed Concrete Special Inspector certification.
• ICC Reinforced Concrete Special Inspector certification and/or ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade 1 certification a plus.
• Additional relevant concrete, inspection, or special inspection certifications a plus.

Independent Contractor Requirements:

Candidates residing outside of the Las Vegas area who do not wish to relocate may be considered as 1099/Independent Contract Inspectors. Independent contractors must have an active business license and appropriate general liability and professional insurance coverage, as required by SOCOTEC and the project.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Minimum of two years of relevant experience in structural concrete inspection, with experience involving pre-stressed and/or post-tensioned concrete.
• Thorough knowledge of applicable requirements for pre-stressed and post-tensioned concrete construction, including relevant IBC, ACI, PTI, ICC, and ASTM standards.
• Ability to read and interpret structural drawings, specifications, approved construction documents, and project details.
• Ability to inspect reinforcing steel, prestressing/post-tensioning systems, tendon placement, stressing operations, concrete placement, and related structural concrete work, as applicable to the project.
• Ability to identify and document deficiencies and communicate inspection findings clearly to the Project Manager, contractor, engineer, and client representatives.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organizational and documentation skills and the ability to maintain accurate inspection reports.
• Positive attitude, professional demeanor, and strong work ethic.
• Ability to work independently in an active construction environment and follow project schedules.
• Current valid driver's license and good driving record.
