The role of Paramedic is an important position on our team which works with other staff in achieving high quality, patient centered care. This position requires the desire and ability to work with all types of patients from pediatrics to geriatrics. The successful Paramedic also possesses the ability to work with a multidisciplinary team of Medical Assistants, LPNs, Paramedics, and Radiologic Technologists. The Paramedic often collaborates with the Registration team, Provider team, and other departments to provide seamless, high quality care to our patients. This position requires effective communication skills and the ability to work calmly under stressful conditions within time constraints. This Paramedic must be willing to collaborate with team members from other locations to ensure consistency in the care given across locations. The Paramedic must be willing to travel to other Urgent Care sites in order to acquire training and provide coverage as needed. The Paramedic will be required to achieve patient satisfaction scores measured by surveys and reported monthly.Education
High School Diploma or GED required
Certification & Licensures
EMT Paramedic for primary state required
EMT Paramedic for secondary state within 12 months of hire date or 10/01/2016, whichever is later preferred
BLS Certification (Basic Life Support) - American Heart ‘Healthcare Provider’ (HCP) - AHA approved required * * New hires must have American Heart Association (AHA) appropriate certification prior to completion of orientation.
Qualifications
• Must be willing to work in all VH UC/OH/QC clinics
• Ability to be flexible with last minute assignments required
• Knowledgeable in the cognitive, physical, emotional and chronological stages of human growth and development
• The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span, possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status, and interpret the appropriate information needed in order to provide care for the age group of patients served.
• Ability to be cross-trained in all areas as designated by Urgent Care Center/Occupational Health Manager
