Mercy is seeking a Clinical Education Specialist (RN) to support the onboarding, education, competency validation, and ongoing professional development of nursing and clinical co-workers. This role is ideal for an experienced nurse who is passionate about teaching, mentoring, and driving excellence in patient care through evidence-based practice and innovative learning strategies.
The Clinical Education Specialist serves as a key resource for nursing staff, leaders, and interdisciplinary teams by developing and delivering educational programs that promote clinical excellence, patient safety, and a positive patient experience. This position supports orientation programs, competency validation, performance improvement initiatives, and continuing education for both licensed and unlicensed healthcare professionals.

Position Details:

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing with 3 years of critical care nursing experience, or

  • Associate degree in Nursing with:

    • 10 years of hospital nursing experience , OR

    • 5 years of hospital nursing experience and active enrollment in an RN-to-BSN program

    • At least 3 years of critical care nursing experience is a must.

  • Current applicable state nursing license.

  • Current AHA BLS certification.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based practice and the ability to positively influence patient care delivery.

  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to meet deadlines.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

  • Knowledge of patient care equipment and clinical technology.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Specialty certification or active pursuit of certification related to area of responsibility.

  • Two years of teaching or educational experience.

  • Additional life support certifications such as ACLS, PALS, NRP, STABLE, TNCC, and/or ENPC.
