About the Position

We are in search of a driven, resourceful Account Executive on our Public Sector team to sell PolicyNote, CQ, and Fireside, our all-in-one constituent relationship management platform built for public officials and their staff. This role is a pure new-logo hunting position: you will focus exclusively on identifying, prospecting, and closing net-new congressional, state, and local government offices that do not yet use PolicyNote, CQ, or Fireside. You will open doors, build pipeline, and convert prospects into new Fireside clients.Personable and persistent, this individual can navigate the unique rhythms and protocols of government offices, translate the value of our products and close deals that expand our footprint across Capitol Hill and beyond.

About the Business Development Team

The Public Sector team is charged with landing and expanding FiscalNote’s presence across the public sector — congressional offices, state legislatures, and government agencies. The team works closely with Marketing to generate and qualify leads, with the Product team to stay current on our products’ evolving capabilities.

About You

You're a self-motivated, competitive sales professional who is energized by the hunt for new business. A team player, willing and enthusiastic to pitch in wherever necessary to support the broader sales organization. Poised and confident, you are both a skilled listener and a convincing presenter with an eye for detail and the polish to communicate at all levels, including with senior legislative staff. You are comfortable with a full-cycle sales process — prospecting, qualifying, demoing, negotiating, and closing — and you prefer data-driven pipeline management over guesswork.

The base salary range for this position is $80,000 - 90,000 per year, plus performance-based quarterly commission.

#LI-HR1

What to Expect:

  • Own the full new-business sales cycle for from prospecting through close, with a sole focus on acquiring net-new offices
  • Build and manage a robust pipeline of prospective congressional, state, and local government offices through outbound prospecting, networking, and inbound lead follow-up
  • Achieve and exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual new-logo sales targets
  • Conduct compelling product demonstrations that connect our product suite’s capabilities to the specific needs of each office
  • Lead pricing and contract negotiations with new clients through to signature
  • Provide accurate and timely pipeline forecasting and reporting
  • Partner with Account Management to ensure a seamless handoff and onboarding experience for newly closed clients
  • Intelligently engage in conversation regarding the legislative and regulatory process
  • Travel to on-site prospect locations in the DC area
  • Actively and regularly attend industry events, conferences, and trade shows to generate new business opportunities

What Sets You Apart:

  • 2-3 years of professional sales experience with a proven track record of meeting or exceeding new business/quota targets
  • Experience selling into the public sector (Capitol Hill, state government, or government technology) is a strong plus
  • A demonstrated “hunter” mentality — comfortable with outbound prospecting and building pipeline from scratch
  • Experience selling a SaaS or subscription-based product is a plus
  • Ability to successfully lead in-person and virtual meetings/demos with senior staff and decision-makers
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities, as well as exceptional time and organizational skills
  • Proficiency with Salesforce strongly preferred
