Full job description
- Documentation of all patient care is required
- Prepare patient by collecting and sharing data; blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rate, height/weight, Date of LMP, general history and chief complaint and identifies need for medication refills.
- Collection of JCAHO required data elements, such as domestic violence, pain, and forms completion.
- Assists and/or prepares patients for surgical procedures, tests, treatments and other diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.
- Assists the health care provider in determining current and potential needs and /or problems with the patient.
- Document all patient assessment elements obtained.
- Demonstrates awareness of risk factors associated with: age, size, sensory perception, motor function, and medications.
- Assists in the evaluation of supplies, equipment, and facilities.
- Education/Accredited Programs: Graduation from a Licensed Practical Nursing Program
- Licenses/Certificates/Registrations:
- Current license and registration to practice Practical Nursing in New York State
- Infection Control
- BLS Certification (can be obtained at time of hire).
- Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to complete basic mathematical calculations and complete tasks in efficient/timely manner
- Ability to provide required nursing care under the direction of the medical provider
- Ability to communicate/work effectively, verbally and in writing with personnel, patients, and medical providers
- Ability to recognize patient care problems and to react appropriately in patient care emergencies utilizing nursing resources
- Responsibility for nursing self-development and keeping current with advances in nursing knowledge and techniques
