Field Service Technician – Plainwell, Michigan

DISHER is currently partnering with a leading global provider of modular units and systems for the manufacturing and processing of plastics. The Field Service Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, and optimization of plastic resin handling equipment at customer facilities. This position serves as the primary technical interface between the company and its customers, ensuring equipment is operating safely, efficiently, and in accordance with design specifications. The technician delivers exceptional customer support while maintaining a high level of technical expertise in plastics processing auxiliary equipment. May input or review information in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP systems) and Customer Relationship Management (CRM System).

What you will get to do:

  • Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, vacuum, and control system issues.
  • Troubleshoot PLC, HMI, sensor, and communications-related problems.
  • Perform preventive maintenance inspections and service.
  • Analyze equipment performance and implement corrective actions.
  • Document service activities and provide detailed service reports.
  • Support customers by phone, email, and remote diagnostics when appropriate.
  • Train customer personnel on equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Follow all safety protocols.

What will make you successful:

  • High school diploma or technical certification.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • 3+ years working with similar equipment.
  • Experience with plastic resin handling systems (preferred).
  • Proficiency in reading electrical schematics.
  • Troubleshooting electrical and pneumatical issues.
  • Active listening to understand customers’ needs.
  • Clear verbal & written communication.
  • Customer relationship building.
  • Regular standing, walking, bending, and lifting.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. regularly.
  • Domestic travel 30% of the time (no weekend travel).
