Material Handler - Outside Transportation
Location: Caterpillar Manufacturing Facility – South Milwaukee, WI
Sign-On & Retention Bonus: Up to $2,000
Shift: 2nd Shift (3pm to 11pm)
Hourly Pay:
Step 1: $23.72
Step 2: $24.21
Step 3: $24.71
Shift Premium: +$1.00/hr for 2nd shift
Job Summary
As a Material Handler, for our Outside Transportation, at Caterpillar South Milwaukee, you will play a critical role in supporting production and logistics operations. This position is responsible for safely receiving, staging, loading, and transporting materials while ensuring accuracy in documentation and inventory processes. You will work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment focused on safety, quality, and on-time delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Perform shipping and receiving activities including unloading/loading trucks, verifying materials, and preparing shipments.
Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment to move, stage, and deliver materials.
Read and verify Bills of Lading, packing lists, and receiving documents to ensure accuracy.
Load trucks using forklifts while ensuring proper weight distribution and securement.
Complete inventory transactions and support cycle counts to maintain accuracy.
Identify and resolve material discrepancies and escalate issues as needed.
Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment following all safety standards and 5S practices.
Support continuous improvement efforts to enhance efficiency and workflow.
Required Qualifications
Minimum of 2 years of shipping and/or receiving experience.
Minimum of 2 years of forklift experience.
Ability to read and understand Bills of Lading, packing lists, and receiving documentation.
Preferred Qualifications
5+ years of forklift experience.
Experience operating large-capacity forklifts (20,000+ lbs).
Minimum of 2 years of inventory experience.
Minimum of 2 years of experience loading trucks using a forklift
Experience working in environments involving or supporting locomotive operations.

Summary Pay Range:
$21.48 - $26.86Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
