A respected Montgomery County law firm is seeking an experienced Personal Injury & Commercial Litigation Associate to join its established litigation practice in Lansdale, PA. The firm's primary need is in personal injury litigation, with opportunities to assist on commercial and other civil litigation matters where the practices intersect.

Personal Injury & Commercial Litigation Associate Requirements & Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) and active Pennsylvania Bar admission in good standing
  • Approximately 5–10 years of significant, consistent personal injury litigation experience from either the plaintiff or defense side
  • At least some commercial litigation experience
  • Current experience practicing within a law firm environment
  • Strong hands-on experience independently taking and defending depositions
  • Experience managing litigation matters through multiple stages of the case lifecycle
  • Strong motion practice, legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills
  • Excellent professional judgment and client-facing communication skills

Personal Injury & Commercial Litigation Associate Preferred Background & Skills

  • Experience with personal injury matters involving general liability, catastrophic injury, premises liability, automobile liability, medical malpractice, products liability, or related claims
  • Commercial litigation experience
  • First-chair or active second-chair trial experience
  • Experience deposing parties, fact witnesses, corporate representatives, medical professionals, and expert witnesses
  • Demonstrated employment stability and interest in building a long-term career within an established firm
  • Polished, responsive, detail-oriented, and proactive approach to client service and case management
  • Collaborative, low-ego, team-oriented working style

Personal Injury & Commercial Litigation Associate Responsibilities

  • Manage personal injury and related civil litigation matters from discovery through resolution or trial
  • Take and defend depositions of parties, witnesses, corporate representatives, medical professionals, and experts
  • Develop case strategy in collaboration with partners and other members of the litigation team
  • Draft and respond to written discovery, including interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admissions
  • Research, draft, file, and argue substantive and pre-trial motions
  • Prepare matters for mediation, arbitration, settlement negotiations, hearings, and trial
  • Participate meaningfully in jury trials, with responsibilities based on experience
  • Negotiate settlements with opposing counsel, insurers, and other parties
  • Communicate directly with clients regarding case strategy, developments, and resolution
  • Assist with commercial and other civil litigation matters based on experience and firm needs
  • 1800 billable hours per year requirement
