Summary
The Welder Class B is responsible for welding castings and fabrications according to specifications. This role also operates welding, cutting, pantograph, sheave-making, and other production equipment while meeting safety, quality, and productivity standards.

The Welder Class B is responsible for welding castings and fabrications according to specifications. This role also operates welding, cutting, pantograph, sheave-making, and other production equipment while meeting safety, quality, and productivity standards.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate manual and semi-automatic welding equipment.
- Select the appropriate welding rod for each job.
- Weld various castings and fabrications according to specifications.
- Pass required tensile and code tests.
- Operate pantograph, cutting, sheave-making, and other production machines as needed.
- Read and understand blueprints, welding symbols, and written instructions.
- Use precision tools, measuring instruments, and shop mathematics.
- Complete required production paperwork.
- Communicate with supervisors, inspectors, and other team members.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 2 years of relevant manufacturing experience.
- Advanced welding experience in accordance with company progression requirements.
- Ability to use shop mathematics.
- Ability to read blueprints, welding symbols, and written specifications.
- Ability to operate welding and production equipment safely.
- Ability to learn and remember machine controls, measuring tools, and assembly instructions.
Additional Information
- Must regularly lift between 1 and 50 pounds.
- Requires standing, walking, bending, twisting, and reaching.
- Work is performed in a manufacturing environment with exposure to dust, smoke, and fumes.
- Regular attendance is necessary to maintain production schedules.
