This is a Grant Funded Position for a specified duration.
This Grant is scheduled to expire on:
2030-08-31Baystate Health/UMass Medical is seeking an experienced Research Project Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of large-scale, externally funded research initiatives, including NIH-funded projects in Springfield, MA.
*This position is fully grant funded through 8/31/2030
RESPONSIBILITIES: Working under the direction of the Principal Investigator (PI) or designee, this role coordinates research activities, manages project budgets and personnel, strengthens partnerships across research sites, and helps advance innovative health research.
- Lead Research Operations: Coordinate all phases of assigned research projects, including participant recruitment, screening, follow-up, intervention implementation, data collection, and data management.
- Manage Budgets and Grants: Monitor grant expenditures and subcontractor budgets, develop budget projections, and collaborate on annual budgets and technical reports.
- Oversee Reporting: Prepare quarterly and annual progress reports for external funding agencies and contribute to grant proposal development.
- Coordinate Research Partnerships: Develop and maintain collaborations with participating research sites, investigators, subcontractors, and professional consultants.
- Lead Project Teams: Recruit, select, supervise, and evaluate research personnel, including research assistants and field staff. Support the orientation and supervision of graduate interns.
- Support Research Quality: Manage complex participant cases, address protocol-related issues, and help ensure research activities align with established requirements.
- Advance Data Analysis: Participate in qualitative and/or quantitative data analysis, collaborate with the PI to design and oversee analysis processes, and train research team members in data analysis techniques as needed.
- Facilitate Collaboration: Plan and document steering committee meetings, data analysis meetings, and other working groups.
- Develop Research Resources: Design and support the production of self-guided and multimedia educational programs, including data analysis training materials.
- Contribute to Publications: Participate in manuscript development and production and contribute to the conceptual design of new studies.
- Support Study Development: Design and conduct formative and pilot studies, including focus groups with research participants.
- Provide Leadership Support: Serve as a backup to the Principal Investigator and act as the PI’s designee when appropriate.

- Monday through Friday
- On-Call Weekend needs
- 8:00am-4:30pm
LOCATION:
· 3601 Main St.
· Springfield, MA
· Requires travel to site visits
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree, required
- Master’s degree, strongly preferred
- 5 years’ experience developing, implementing and analyzing health research/health education activities, or related experience, required
- Very strong theoretical and analytic skills. Demonstrated ingenuity and abstract thinking
- Demonstrated experience in problem-solving and developing collaboration between investigators and institutions
- Demonstrated expertise in data management, computer use, and qualitative and/or qualitative data analysis.
- Communication skills, both oral and written, necessary to interact with funding agencies, other research sites, other study personnel, and Medical Center staff
- Must have reliable transportation and ability to travel to both local and/or national off-site locations as required for data collection, monitoring, and other study requirements.

Note: The compensation range(s) in the table below represent the base salaries for all positions at a given grade across the health system. Typically, a new hire can expect a starting salary somewhere in the lower part of the range. Actual salaries may vary by position and will be determined based on the candidate's relevant experience. No employee will be paid below the minimum of the range. Pay ranges are listed as hourly for non-exempt employees and based on assumed full time commitment for exempt employees.

$83,054.00 - $95,472.00 - $112,923.00
