The Greater Manchester Region has approximately 2,500 employees. It includes Manchester Memorial Hospital, a 249-bed community hospital, Rockville General, a campus of Manchester Memorial Hospital, a 102-bed facility, a large multispecialty provider group and visiting nurse services. The Greater Manchester Region serves a region of 300,000 people in 19 towns.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Assists the surgeon during operative and invasive procedures. Assures operating suite is adequately prepared for procedure. Works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team. Assists in maintaining a safe and clean environment. Reports to the Clinical Nurse Manager.
Qualifications
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
· Must have successfully completed a nationally accredited Surgical Technology program and hold a Surgical Technologist Certification from a national certifying body recognized by the Department of Public Health: The National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (CST) or the National Center for Competency Testing (TS-C).
· Candidates without current certification who have successfully completed an accredited Surgical Technologist program, but has not, as of the date of hire, obtained a Surgical Technologist Certification must obtain such certification within 90 days of hire from a national certifying body recognized by the Department of Public Health: The National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (CST) or the National Center for Competency Testing (TS-C).
* Surgical Technicians who acted within the role of a Surgical Technician (Operating Room Technician) on, or before October 1, 2023, may be grandfathered in per CT Public Act 23-195.
· Must maintain Certification while employed in this role.
· Must have certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support upon hire or receive certification within the new employee introductory orientation period and maintain clinical competency during employment within this role.
