Full job description
Job Title: Research and Development Technician
Location: Cokato, MN
Pay Range: $20-$32/Hour
Are you a hands-on problem solver who enjoys testing products, troubleshooting technical issues, and supporting new product development? We are seeking an R&D Technician I to join a collaborative engineering team and play a key role in product testing, validation, and manufacturing support.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a technical background who wants to contribute to innovative products while gaining exposure to engineering, quality, and production operations.
What is the Job:
- Perform laboratory testing of electrical products and maintain accurate testing records.
- Collect, analyze, and document test results to ensure products meet performance and reliability standards.
- Assist with new product development through testing, design input, and technical documentation.
- Support manufacturing by helping resolve technical issues and assisting with product improvements.
- Review and update engineering documentation, including bills of materials (BOMs), work instructions, and inspection procedures.
- Assist with technical document control and product manuals.
- Review drawings and specifications for accuracy and completeness.
- Support quality initiatives by maintaining quality logs and inspection documentation.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Production, Quality, Procurement, and Customer Service teams on development and improvement projects.
- Participate in continuous improvement efforts and cross-functional project teams.
What is Needed:
- Technical degree in Electrical Technology, Electronics, Electro-Mechanical Technology, Mechatronics, or a related field; or equivalent hands-on experience.
- 4+ years of manufacturing, product development, testing, or engineering support experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience troubleshooting electrical and electronic systems.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent technical writing and communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a laboratory, testing, or validation environment.
- Exposure to product development processes.
- Experience supporting manufacturing operations.
- Basic CAD experience.
- Experience with documentation control, quality systems, or engineering change processes.
- Knowledge of electro-mechanical products and systems.
