“The Story with Martha MacCallum” is seeking a Breaking News Producer with extensive control room experience who can write scripts as news happens, create compelling and accurate lower thirds for live events and quickly build up-to-date research on late-breaking stories. The ideal candidate has experience writing under tight deadlines, manages pressure with composure and has solid editorial judgement. The Breaking News Producer will also step-in as back-up Line Producer on occasion.
A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Write up-to-date scripts under tight deadlines
- Build compelling and concise lower thirds during live events
- Monitor multiple sources for new developments on breaking stories
- Quickly turn relevant sound, visuals, and graphics in the control room
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
- 5+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of skills and demonstrated experience.
- Prior experience copy-editing
- Experience timing a live show in a control room
- Strong interest/knowledge of current events and politics
- A passion for storytelling with a strong creative drive; willingness to take risks
- Editorial confidence to execute a show roadmap
- A Bachelor's degree in journalism or a related field of study preferred, or equivalent experience

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $83,000.00-116,000.00 annually. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
