Full job description

Position Summary:
This position is responsible for setting up and operating Manual machines, CNC machining centers, and other value-added equipment, loading and creating programs through data transfer and MDI programming. Works with leads, planners, and supervisors to achieve production goals. The machinist is responsible for interpreting complex blueprints and producing quality parts according to specifications and time restraints. Is capable of making complex parts and fixtures directly from print. Requires considerable autonomy with little to no supervision to perform duties of the job.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist Leads, programmers, and supervisor on setups and execution of projects. Can assist others in all functions of machining and inspecting from print to part for complex items.
  • Set up and operate machine tools as required to meet drawing specifications for tools and fixtures. This includes G-Code/MDI and/or the independent creation of programs for CNC programming of machine tools. Ability to distinguish and achieve ASME and GD&T tolerances.
  • Utilize experience and expertise in machining to assist programming team by developing tools and fixtures. Incorporate lean practices to eliminate waste, create better flow, reduce bottle necks, and achieve SMED. Identifies and removes inefficiencies from programs through awareness and process engagement.
  • Assist in the daily preventative maintenance programs for all machine tools under your control. Repair minor damage to machinery and tooling.
  • Assisting in the training and mentoring of Machine Operators and Machinist I employees. Performs other duties as assigned.
