Position Summary

The Process Engineer is responsible for the development, implementation, qualification, control, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes used to produce printed circuit boards. The Process Engineer will provide technical ownership for assigned PCB fabrication processes, which may include drilling, lamination, plating, and other related manufacturing processes.

This position applies engineering principles, statistical methods, materials science, chemistry, equipment technology, and structured problem-solving techniques to establish robust manufacturing processes capable of consistently producing high-quality product.

The Process Engineer will work closely with Production, Quality, Maintenance, Engineering, R&D, Supply Chain, and equipment/chemical suppliers to develop and maintain safe, capable, efficient, and cost-effective manufacturing processes.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Research, evaluate, and recommend manufacturing processes, equipment, materials, and technologies to support current and future PCB manufacturing requirements.
  • Lead implementation projects for new and modified processes, equipment, materials, and process improvements, including planning, DOEs (Design of Experiments), qualification, and production validation.
  • Establish process specifications, operating windows, recipes, control limits, sampling plans, and control strategies to ensure consistent product quality.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation, work instructions, operating procedures, specifications, process control plans, and engineering records.
  • Monitor and optimize process performance using SPC, capability analysis, statistical methods, and key metrics including Cp, Cpk, yields, and scrap.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on process capability, throughput, yield, quality, cost reduction, equipment utilization, and reliability using Lean, Six Sigma, and structured 8D problem-solving methodology.
  • Conduct root-cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions for process failures, product defects, nonconformances, and customer complaints using tools such as 5-Why, Fishbone, and Pareto analysis.
  • Develop and maintain PFMEAs and Control Plans; identify process risks and implement effective preventive and detection controls.
  • Apply MSA (Measurement Systems Analysis), Gage R&R, and statistical analysis techniques to validate measurement systems, analyze process variation, identify trends, and develop data-driven improvement recommendations.
  • Support equipment and capital projects, including equipment selection, specification, installation, qualification, troubleshooting, and production release.
  • Collaborate with Production, Quality, Maintenance, Engineering, suppliers, and management to resolve technical issues
  • Provide training to relevant personnel, ensuring safety and regulatory compliance

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science/Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 2+ years of manufacturing or process engineering experience preferred.
  • PCB manufacturing experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with process development, process optimization, manufacturing troubleshooting, or continuous improvement preferred.
  • Experience with plating, drilling, lamination, or other PCB fabrication processes is highly desirable.
  • Experience with SPC, PFMEA, Control Plans, DOE, process capability, and root-cause analysis preferred.
  • Experience implementing new equipment, processes, or materials preferred.
  • Experience working in an ISO9001/AS9100-regulated manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and relevant technical experience may be considered.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment and safely navigate production areas.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and maneuver around manufacturing equipment as required.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds without straining.
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Must be capable of working around manufacturing chemicals, equipment, noise, heat, and other normal manufacturing conditions while following all applicable safety requirements.

  • Must have or be capable of obtaining and maintaining a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance when required by the position.
  • Must comply with all applicable company security, export-control, and information-security requirements.

Compensation and Benefits:

TTM offers a variety of health and well-being benefit programs. Benefits are available on the 1st of the month following date of hire. For some positions, only PTO and holiday benefits are offered.

Compensation ranges for roles at TTM Technologies varies depending on a wide array of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; certifications; and other business and organizational needs.  The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.  At TTM Technologies, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on each individual set of circumstances.  A reasonable estimate of the current range is:

$79,830 - $133,051

Additional compensation: An annual or quarterly company bonus may apply based on position assignment. Positions hired for alternative shift may be eligible for a shift premium based on the assigned shift and location.
