Full job description
Family Medicine Physician Job with Union Medical Center in Chicago, IL—Imagine a life without RVU’s!! No patient portals!
Outpatient Only - West Loop Neighborhood, Chicago
Union Medical Center Chicago, IL
Full time Family Practice / Internal Medicine in a multi -specialty clinic in Chicago
Location: West Loop, Chicago
Schedule: Outpatient only, Monday-Friday 9:40-6pm
If you are looking to maximize your time outside of medicine, this is an ideal opportunity. The clinic is open Monday through Friday and does not require assigned call or hospital duties. Our excellent RNs take on call on nights/weekends. The practice is located within the city and provides a great location for anyone hoping to live and work in the city or a nearby suburb, facilitated by its proximity to I-290.
The patients served are primarily Spanish (~75%) and Polish or English speaking (~25%). All of our support staff are bilingual in Spanish or Polish.
Candidate would join a group of four family physicians, and a part time Pediatrician. We have one NP on staff for same day visits. Physicians are scheduled approximately 16-19 patients per day. On average most of us see 15-18 per day pending the no show rate . Skill with simple procedures are appreciated but not required. There is an opportunity to tailor your schedule if you prefer more procedural time (i.e. IUD, OM, skin procedures) or desire to dedicate certain slots to a specific focus (women's health, for example).
The clinic includes an in-house pharmacy, X-ray and Ultrasound department, Lab, Physical Therapy suite, Optometry clinic, and a full service Dental clinic. We bring in specialists to our clinic weekly, including ENT, Ob/Gyn, Orthopedics, Podiatry, Urology, ENT, and Ophthalmology, which allows us to coordinate patient care efficiently. We do not do any Occupational health.
This opportunity is a very unique one, in that we are a closed entity, self-funded, and open to only Union Members and their families. This means, we do not accept Medicaid/Medicare, nor any other major medical insurance. Because of this, our practitioners are entrusted with doing just one thing: taking care of patients. There are no quotas or RVUs. No struggles with coding/billing. No practice managers adding extra ten patients into an already overwhelming schedule. This is complemented by our incredible support staff who help coordinate care along with the provider.
If this practice environment sounds like it might be a good fit for you, we look forward to hearing from you!
Requirements:
Active Illinois Physician license
Board Eligible/Board Certified in Family Medicine
Active DEA license
Familiarity with the use of electronic health record (current EHR: Allscripts)
Ability and interest in working with a culturally diverse patient base.
Bilingual (Spanish) preferred but not required. Polish also acceptable!
Compensation:
In addition to a generous annual SALARY (negotiable starting at $235K considering experience), the package includes:
• Malpractice insurance -Occurrence policy (this means NO TAIL to worry about!)
• Full medical and dental benefits (employer pays premium)
• Pension and 401K w/ employer contributions
• 3 weeks vacation
• 10 sick/personal days
• 1 week CME w/reimbursement $2K
• 10 paid holidays
Our providers have all come from other practices, such as FQHC, other large medical organizations because they are looking for an opportunity to practice medicine and establish long term relationships with patients. Many of our patients have been seen at the medical center for decades, and once you are their physician, you really are their doctor. The one they trust to coordinate their care. As one of my physicians said, "this is a unicorn of practices." It is a place where the difficult job of primary care can actually be fulfilling!
