Your role and responsibilities

Job Summary:  The person in this position is responsible for performing product testing, including floor and lab, using various types of testing equipment to ensure the parts being produced meets quality standards.  This person will perform daily audits and prepare reports as needed.  They will be responsible for rechecking reworked parts to ensure they meet quality standards.  They will work closely with Team Leaders and Supervisors to provide Quality Control Training and direction, writing quality procedures and/or update current standards as required.  This person will support process improvement initiatives using LEAN manufacturing principles in an effort to eliminate waste.

 

The work model for the role is onsite in Portland, TN.


This role is contributing to the success of the ABB Installation Products, Portland, TN location.

Major Responsibilities/Activities

  • Maintain the Production Floor Activities concerning Quality
  • Perform daily audits/Military audits
  • Testing including floor checks and lab testing
  • Use of micrometers and calipers
  • Calibration program
  • Documentation control
  • Data entry and reporting
  • Rechecking reworked parts
  • QC Training classes
  • Writing quality procedures
  • Control plans
  • Special projects

 

Basic Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Basic Math skills
  • Computer skills a must – Email, Excel, Microsoft Work, Access
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in manufacturing environment
  • Minimum 5 years’ hands on experience in Quality Control or specific skills and characteristics that would be relevant for this role
  • May be required to work alternate shifts as business needs require as well as perform other duties as assigned.

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • LX, TOPS experience

 

Additional Comments:  Must have exceptional interpersonal skills, self-starter and highly motivated.  Good communicator and problem-solving skills.
