Full job description

The Division of Pulmonary Medicine, in the Department of Pediatrics at UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh- is seeking a physician-scientist who is board certified in Pediatric Pulmonary Medicine to join our Pediatric Asthma Center with a full-time faculty position at the Assistant, Associate or Professor level in the research scholar track at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. The candidate will be a physician with education and training in genetics and/or epidemiology (MD, MD/MPH, or MD/PhD), a research interest in childhood asthma, and a strong record of scientific productivity- commensurate with experience. Proven ability or potential to obtain extramural funding is a plus.

The Division of Pulmonary Medicine currently has 18 full-time faculty members, including 12 pediatric pulmonology and sleep medicine physicians. The Division has an outstanding career development program for its dedicated research faculty, and a strong ACGME-accredited training program in pediatric pulmonology with 6 fellows, with joint conferences and research activities.

The successful applicant will interact with NIH-funded faculty in our Pediatric Asthma Center, where he/she will, and will be provided support to develop a research program and compete for extramural funding. He/she will be responsible for seeing patients at the Pediatric Pulmonology or Difficult to Treat Asthma Clinics, half day per week. Other responsibilities include teaching the fellows, residents, and students, and serving as the attending on the Pulmonary Inpatient/Consult Service six weeks per year.
