Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM

Experience:

• 18 months of experience with 3 months within the last 12 months.

• 18 months of Medical Surgical / Telemetry Unit experience with 1 month within the last 12 months.

• Experience with Epic is preferred.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have a North Carolina license or compact license (required for submission).

• This role may require floating to additional units and locations

• Local & travel allowed. Candidates living <50 miles from facility will be processed as local.

• Flu vaccination required after submission. Religious and medical declinations accepted.

• Anyone who worked as Staff at a facility in this program in the last 12 months cannot be submitted.

• Anyone who worked as Part-Time at a facility in this program in the last 12 months cannot be submitted.

• Anyone who worked as Per Diem at a facility in this program in the last 12 months cannot be submitted.

• Anyone currently working at a facility in this program cannot be submitted.

Additional Details:

Required Skills/Experience: General Med-Surg/Telemetry skills are required, including stroke experience, cardiac rhythm interpretation, tracheostomy care, peripheral IV starts, chest tube management, nasogastric tube placement, drain/tube management (Dobhoff, PEG tubes, Hemovac, JP drains, Flexi-Seals, Foley insertion/management, etc.), and PCA pumps. Medication drip management is required, including cardiac drips, heparin, blood products, and IV fluids.

Special Requests: Up to 6 days off may be approved, excluding holidays; time must be added to the end of the contract if contracted hours cannot be met.

Unit Details: Patient types and common diagnoses include chest pain, syncope, and angina. The CNA ratio is 1:10. A resource RN assists with admissions and discharges. Phlebotomy is a combined effort between RNs and the IV team, and an IV/VAT team is available. Respiratory therapy and hospitalist support are available 24/7, although neither is dedicated to the unit. Equipment includes Alaris IV pumps and Omnicell medication dispensing.

Shift & Scheduling: Weekend rotation is every other weekend. Travelers will work 75% of holidays. No call. The schedule cycle is every 6 weeks.

Floating Requirements: Travel nurses are first to float to other nursing units and provide flexible staffing support based on patient care needs and staffing demands; they must demonstrate adaptability and clinical flexibility when floating. Travel nurses will take patients within scope of practice on any unit, including Med-Surg assignments in ICU and Med-Surg holds in the ED. Travel nurses may be required to float across Region 1 facilities as needed: Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, and Central Division (CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH, pediatrics only); any facility within the region may be used.
