Work Environment

The position is based in a dynamic hospital setting located in Estero, Florida, a vibrant community known for its beautiful weather and welcoming atmosphere. Our facility emphasizes an onsite approach to care, providing a hands-on experience that is critical for patient recovery. Normal work hours will be Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM, allowing for a balanced work-life schedule.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough evaluations of patients within twenty-four hours of physician referral, ensuring timely and effective care.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on patient needs, goals, and physician recommendations.
  • Implement therapy sessions following the treatment plan, using techniques such as exercise programs, manual therapy, and sports rehabilitation.
  • Supervise and mentor Physical Therapy Assistants in their patient care activities, ensuring adherence to state regulations and best practice standards.
  • Maintain regular communication with the healthcare team, family members, and caregivers regarding patient progress and adjustments to treatment plans.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, including patient care conferences, to discuss and coordinate effective treatment approaches.
  • Document evaluations and treatment progress meticulously, complying with state and federal documentation requirements.
  • Instruct families and nursing staff on patient care techniques and discharge strategies to ensure continuity of care.
  • Assist with discharge planning to facilitate smooth transitions and optimal patient independence at home.
  • Proactively identify and report maintenance needs for therapy equipment to ensure optimal functionality at all times.

Patient Population / Client Focus

You will work primarily with patients recovering from orthopedic surgeries and injuries, including those seeking rehabilitation for sports-related conditions. This role requires you to be adept at tailoring treatment plans that enhance recovery timelines and improve functional outcomes. The diversity of our patient population allows for a broad range of clinical experiences and approaches to therapy.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Current licensure to practice as a Physical Therapist in the state of Florida.
  • Two years of experience in orthopedic rehabilitation is required.
