Job Description
Provides assistance to professional staff in completion of patient-related tasks which include but are not limited to a) Assist patients with ADL's; b) Assist patients with their exercise (rehab); c) Assist staff to maintain a safe, clean environment on the IPU. Takes primary responsibility for tracking patient equipment. Shriners Portland is looking for a PRN Patient Care Assistant to join the team!
Key Responsibilities:
Maintains a safe environment by following safety standard policies and procedures.
Demonstrates ability to set up overhead frame on beds and cribs. Familiar with traction setups commonly used on IPU.
Demonstrates ability to perform clinical skills taught during the current year. These include but are not limited to: temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rate, cast care, bladder scanning, dipstick, and guaiac testing.
Understands the importance of providing quality service to patients, coworkers and the public. Strives to exceed expectations through the application of good customer service skills, both internally and externally.
Demonstrates proper body mechanics when lifting/transferring patients and/or equipment without injury.
Required Qualifications:
Certificate Nursing Assistant (CNA)
Basic Life Support (BLS)
Preferred Qualifications:
High School Diploma/GED
1 year Nursing Assistant
