Our client, a well-known multinational consumer goods company, is seeking a Packaging/Production Assistant Supervisor to join their team. As a Packaging/Production Assistant Supervisor, you will be part of the team supervising and coordinating the day-to-day operations of 25-40 employees. Ideal candidates will have a great attitude, good communication, and ability to work well in a team environment which will align successfully in the organization.

The Assistant Packaging Supervisor plays a key role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the St. Peters CMO packaging department by assisting the Shift Supervisor in leading production activities. This position provides leadership and guidance to a team of approximately 25–40 packaging associates while ensuring safe, efficient, and quality-focused operations.

The ideal candidate is a positive, team-oriented leader who demonstrates strong organizational skills, communicates effectively, and helps bring out the best in others. This individual will lead by example while promoting a culture of safety, accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a supervisory, lead, or other leadership role within a manufacturing or distribution environment.
  • Knowledge of lot-controlled products and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) is preferred.
  • Ability to motivate and lead teams to achieve production, quality, and safety goals.
  • Working knowledge of SAP is preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and general computer systems.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities - Training provided.
  • Assist the Shift Supervisor in leading daily packaging operations and supporting production teams.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and direction to packaging associates to meet safety, quality, delivery, and productivity objectives.
  • Understand and interpret Bills of Materials (BOMs), Manufacturing Instructions (MIs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and work instructions.
  • Assist with onboarding and training new associates on manual packaging and assembly processes.
  • Promote and support facility-wide 5S initiatives by maintaining an organized, clean, and efficient work environment.
  • Support all company safety policies and actively promote a strong safety culture throughout the facility.
  • Assist in evaluating associate performance, identifying development opportunities, and providing constructive feedback.
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards, GMP requirements, and company procedures.
  • Assign work to associates, monitor progress throughout the shift, and adjust staffing as needed to meet production demands.
  • Assist in completing daily production reports and maintaining accurate operational documentation.
  • Communicate staffing concerns, production issues, equipment challenges, and quality concerns promptly to leadership.
  • Work collaboratively with Operations, Quality, Maintenance, Warehouse, and other support departments to achieve business objectives.
  • Foster teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement across the production floor.
Requirements
  • Maintain an excellent attendance record with no more than two (2) attendance points during any rolling six-month period.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and occasionally sit throughout an 8-hour shift.
  • Ability to safely lift, push, pull, and move packaging materials as required.
  • Willingness to work overtime and Saturdays as business needs require.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment that includes exposure to noise, moving equipment, and varying temperatures.
