Join our fast-paced28-bed Minimally Invasive Progressive Care Unit (PCU), caring for post-operative and intermediate care patients. As a designatedBariatric Center of Excellence, we provide specialized care for patients recovering from bariatric surgery, hernia repairs, mastectomies, and other minimally invasive procedures.
What Youll Experience:
Progressive Care/Intermediate Care (PCU/IMU) level patients
Frequent assessments and close monitoring
Post-operative patients with stays ranging from 1-5 days
Tracheostomy patients from across the North Campus
Occasional medical overflow patients

4900 General Surgery cares for a wide variety of patients including Minimally Invasive Surgery, Bariatric, Plastic Reconstruction, Endocrine-oncology, Orthopedics and Opthalmology. We are recognized as a Bariatric Center of Excellence. The various surgical services that comprise our patient population make 4900 a dynamic floor on which to build your nursing skillset. Preferred QualificationsRole Purpose
Provides direct patient care activities including assessment, diagnosis, planning implementation, and evaluation within the guidelines of the standards of nursing care.Responsibilities
Promotes patient and family centered care in a healing environment. Educates patients and their families on how to manage their illness or injury, including post treatment home care needs and medication administration.
Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality and regulatory compliance. Participates in professional development.
Develops, implements, and documents individual plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with other members of the interprofessional team and patient, family or caregiver in accordance with the established guidelines and standards of nursing care. Proactively plans and ensures communication of the plan of care across the continuum of care.
Uses critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs according to standards of care. Assess patient preferences and barriers to involvement in care, including their values, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population-specific needs.
