The Williams College of Business at Xavier University invites applications for a non-tenure track Assistant Professor of Instruction position in the Department of Accountancy and Business Law beginning fall 2027. The Williams College of Business is AACSB accredited. The Assistant Professor of Instruction position is renewable on a yearly basis, with the potential after six years for promotion to Associate Professor of Instruction with a rolling two-year renewable contract. The candidate must be committed to providing quality teaching and to maintaining an active and sustained connection to their field through professional engagement, scholarly activity, or a combination of the two. The successful candidate will demonstrate a clear plan for continued professional and/or scholarly engagement that supports currency in their discipline, informs their teaching, and contributes to their ongoing faculty qualifications.

 

Duties: Faculty members at Xavier are expected to teach in both undergraduate and master’s programs in live and on-line formats. Other duties include service and participation in the life of the Department and University consistent with the mission of Jesuit higher education, and professional development activities on and off campus. Teaching load is four courses per semester.

 

Required Qualifications: Applicants for this non-tenure track faculty position must have a terminal degree (JD or PhD) from an accredited law school. Strong candidates will have compelling evidence of teaching effectiveness, relevant professional work experience, and an established or developing record of professional engagement and/or scholarly activity. The successful candidate will be able to engage diverse groups of students in learning opportunities.

Professional and Scholarly Engagement Statement: Applicants should submit a one-page statement outlining their long-term plan for maintaining an active and sustained connection to their field and for maintaining their faculty qualifications. The statement should emphasize how the candidate will remain current in business practice and the professional community relevant to their area of teaching, including the types of professional engagement, industry interaction, continuing development, and other activities they anticipate pursuing to inform and enhance their teaching and maintain their qualifications as an Instructional Practitioner. Candidates whose qualification strategy includes scholarly academic engagement (i.e., publishing) may also describe their plans for developing and disseminating intellectual contributions. Overall, the statement should present a realistic and sustained plan for continued professional and/or scholarly engagement appropriate to the candidate's discipline, expertise, and career trajectory.
