Full job description
ATC West Healthcare is seeking a board-certified Neonatologist to join and help lead a growing Level III NICU program in Fredericksburg, Virginia. This is a full-time, permanent leadership-focused role offering a week-on/week-off schedule, home call coverage, and a strong emphasis on work-life balance. The position involves both clinical care and program development within a collaborative, multidisciplinary neonatal team.

- Week-on / week-off schedule
- Home call model
- Requires local residency in the Fredericksburg, VA area (relocation may be required)
- Not open to locum tenens candidates
- Not accepting visa candidates (J1/H1B not supported)
- Provide comprehensive neonatal care in an 8-bed Level III NICU and newborn nursery
- Manage approximately 9 11 patients daily census
- Attend and manage high-risk deliveries with OB and perinatal teams
- Work within 10 labor, delivery, and recovery (LDR) couplet care rooms
- Collaborate with neonatologists, neonatal nurse practitioners, nursing, and respiratory therapy staff
- Mentor and support NICU nursing and respiratory teams as acuity increases
- Develop and implement clinical protocols and care standards
- Participate in NICU growth, expansion, and strategic planning initiatives
- Engage in quality improvement and patient safety programs
- Maintain strong communication with hospital leadership and clinical teams
- Optional moonlighting opportunities available within Virginia
- Board Certified in Pediatrics (required)
- Board Eligible or Board Certified in Neonatology (required)
- Neonatology clinical experience (required; experienced candidates only)
- Virginia medical license or willingness to obtain (required)
- Clean malpractice and licensing history strongly preferred
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification (standard/required for role)
- DEA registration (must be obtained prior to start)
- NPDB Self-Query Report within 30 days (required at submission)
- Must disclose visa status (J1/H1B not accepted
