Lab Technician

Our client, world-class experts in plant breeding and biotechnology is seeking a Lab Technician to join their team. As a Lab Technician, you will be part of the Biotechnology team supporting a research team developing and evaluating novel plant breeding methods. The ideal candidate will be skilled in tissue culture, experienced with aseptic techniques, be detail-orientation and have excellent communication and organizational skills.

Job Title: Lab Technician

Location: Johnston, IA

Pay Range: $27

Shift: Monday through Friday 8am-4:30pm

What's the Job?

• Assist with creating, executing, and scoring results supporting research team needs, including processing samples under sterile lab conditions
• Measure, image, and analyze experimental results to support research outcomes
• Coordinate sampling and prepare samples as needed for ongoing plant tissue culture work
• Execute plant tissue culture activities, including plant transformation, plant propagation, and analytical assays of plant tissue samples as needed
• Maintain a safe work environment by using aseptic, sterile techniques and documenting experimental details in proprietary and standard software applications

What's Needed?

• Associate or Bachelor's degree in the biological sciences, preferably with industry-related experience or an equivalent amount of relevant education and experience
• Plant transformation experience in a classroom or industry setting is highly desirable
• Problem-solving skills to support research tasks and troubleshoot routine challenges
• Attention to detail and the ability to stay focused while performing repetitive tasks
• Excellent written/verbal communication and strong organizational skills, with the ability to work well in a team and independently
