The Role - Overview

The Engineering Supervisor is responsible for supporting the Engineering Manager. Overseeing the day-to-day operation of the Engineering Department. The Engineering Supervisor assists in all aspects of hotel and building maintenance including electrical, plumbing, steam, gas, fire & safety, HVAC, refrigeration, interior, paint and decorating, and respond to inquiries and problems in an efficient, courteous, and professional manner to achieve maximum customer satisfaction while complying with all Four Seasons’ policies. This person will have strong leadership, interpersonal and analytical skills. Please see below for essential functions.


Essential Functions
 

  • Respond to Resident support needs with the highest level of timeliness, hospitality and professionalism.
  • Ensure timely and quality-driven completion of service requests, Preventive Maintenance Program tasks and various engineering related projects through supervision, guidance and technical support of subordinate Engineering Team Members.
  • Assist in the training, coaching, supervising, scheduling, and planning of activities of maintenance department staff.
  • Participate in the employee performance reviews process.
  • Assist in planning and implementing procedures, systems and controls to ensure an efficient maintenance department.
  • Understand and interact with Fire/Life Safety features of building on a daily basis.
  • Conduct inspections of fire/life-safety and other critical systems as necessary.
  • Respond to all emergency conditions such as fires, power failures, floods, leaks, etc.
  • Directly supervise staff in carrying out work schedules as well as spot checking to verify quality and employee performance.
  • Maintain logs on movement of stock items and tools.
  • Maintain par stocks and the distribution of items.
  • Ensure timely and accurate sub meter, chemical treatment, and engine room log
  • Handle the purchasing of equipment replacement parts and repairs. This includes contacting vendors for best prices, writing purchase orders, receiving goods, and completing projects.
  • Ensure that work order/request system is properly executed and that items from the logbook are followed up on when necessary.
  • Assist in developing and updating comprehensive departmental policies and manuals.
  • Ensure that all meter readings on gas, electricity, water and domestic steam and water are taken and reviewed for consumption.
  • Assist in compiling a monthly consumption report on gas, electricity, water and domestic steam and water.
  • Train and drill the Team on fire life safety systems, valve locations and other emergency procedures that involves the department.
  • Ensure effective communication and good relations between the Engineering department and other departments in the Resort and Residence.
  • Prepare and follow through on any projects as outlined by senior management.
  • Ensure all areas of the Property and Residences are patrolled and inspected on a regular basis

Qualifications & Experience

  • High school education or equivalent experience.
  • Trade school certification in mechanics, refrigeration etc.
  • A minimum to two to five years of employment in the related position with Four Seasons or similar environment.
  • Requires a working technical knowledge of general building maintenance. Working knowledge is generally learned on-the-Job or through a series of professional certifications.
