Ensign Physical Therapy is seeking a dedicated and skilled Physical Therapist Assistant to join our team in Bakersfield, California. This full-time, onsite position offers the opportunity to work in a hospital setting where patient care is our top priority. Work Environment

This position is based in a hospital environment, providing rehabilitation services to a diverse range of patients. You will work alongside licensed physical therapists, other health professionals, and a supportive administrative team to ensure optimal patient experiences. Our schedule is generally Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with some occasional flexibility needed to address patient care needs and clinic operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer direct physical therapy treatments under the guidance of licensed physical therapists, ensuring adherence to individualized patient care plans formulated to relieve pain and restore function.
  • Guide patients through active and passive therapeutic exercises, carefully monitoring their progress and modifying approaches as necessary to address mobility and functional challenges.
  • Utilize physical agents, such as heat, cold, ultrasound, and electrical modalities, to enhance therapeutic outcomes.
  • Educate patients on how to effectively use therapeutic tools, including wheelchairs, braces, and assistive devices, empowering them to take an active role in their recovery process.
  • Maintain comprehensive and accurate clinical notes, communication logs, and patient records to ensure continuity of care and compliance with organizational standards.
  • Engage in interdisciplinary meetings and contribute to continuous quality improvement programs within the organization.
  • Participate in professional development sessions and assist with organization-wide education initiatives to enhance team knowledge and skills.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support clinic operations and patient care.

Patient Population / Client Focus

As a Physical Therapist Assistant, you will work with a wide-ranging patient population, including post-surgical rehabilitation patients, individuals recovering from injuries, and those managing chronic conditions. Your role is vital in helping these patients achieve their rehabilitation goals and regain their independence.

Qualifications

  • A graduate of an accredited physical therapy assistant program, holding either an Associate's degree in science or applied science from a program recognized by the American Physical Therapy Association.
  • Valid and current certification or state-issued license to practice as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • A valid driver's license and reliable transportation with appropriate insurance.

Preferred Experience

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience working in physical therapy settings, particularly in hospitals or outpatient clinics.
  • Experience in utilizing electronic health record (EHR) systems for documentation and patient management.

Compensation and Benefits
