General Superintendent of Construction

Location: Greater Minneapolis-St Paul Area

Compensation: $150,000-$200,000 annually

A growing construction organization is seeking an experienced General Superintendent to provide leadership and oversight across a diverse portfolio of construction projects. This role is ideal for a hands-on construction leader who thrives in the field, understands the importance of operational excellence, and has a passion for developing teams and delivering high-quality projects.

As General Superintendent, you will play a critical role in managing field operations, coordinating project execution, and ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and in alignment with company standards. You will partner closely with the Director of Construction, Project Managers, Site Supervisors, and subcontractors to drive consistency, accountability, and success from project kickoff through closeout.

What You’ll Do

Lead Field Operations & Site Management

  • Oversee day-to-day construction operations across multiple active job sites
  • Provide leadership and direction to site supervisors, subcontractors, and field teams
  • Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, safety, quality, and overall performance
  • Identify potential issues early and implement solutions to keep projects on track
  • Ensure construction activities are completed according to plans, specifications, schedules, and quality expectations

Manage Project Coordination & Scheduling

  • Partner with Project Managers to support successful project execution from start to finish
  • Coordinate subcontractor activities to create efficient workflow and minimize delays
  • Monitor project progress and communicate updates, risks, and solutions to leadership
  • Assist with schedule management and recommend corrective actions when challenges arise

Champion Safety & Quality Standards

  • Promote a strong safety culture across all projects and job sites
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, regulations, and company requirements
  • Monitor workmanship and maintain high-quality construction standards
  • Identify deficiencies and ensure timely resolution throughout the project lifecycle

Support Teams & Improve Operations

  • Foster strong communication between field teams and office leadership
  • Assist with onboarding, training, and development of site supervisors and field personnel
  • Help implement consistent construction processes and operational standards
  • Support the adoption of construction management tools and technology, including Procore

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate is a construction leader with strong field experience, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining high standards for safety, quality, and performance.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of construction field leadership experience
  • Previous experience as a Construction Superintendent, General Superintendent, or similar field leadership role
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, scheduling, and subcontractor coordination
  • Experience managing multiple projects or job sites simultaneously
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and project documents
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities
  • Proven ability to make decisions, manage priorities, and hold teams accountable
  • Experience with construction management software preferred (Procore experience a plus)
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • NASCLA Certification preferred
