Job Description Summary
You will work within an interdisciplinary team to innovate and push the technical envelope in all aspects of magnetic resonance imaging. You will have opportunities to work both on MRI systems hardware as well as algorithms and pulse sequence development. The research and development work will be across 1.5T-3.0T whole body and 3.0T-7.0T high-performance, head-only MRI platforms.Job Description
Job Description
As a Magnetic Resonance Research Scientist, you will:
- Apply deep knowledge in MR physics, mathematics, engineering and chemistry to conceptualize and prototype novel MR systems and applications that address key clinical needs.
- Develop impactful applications that leverage next-generation MRI sub-systems that have enhanced imaging capabilities. Examples are in high-performance gradient coils, RF coils, receiver sub-systems, gradient drivers, etc.
- Develop and deploy investigational MR applications and systems in clinical and preclinical environments for tests and validation.
- Determine the impact of systems hardware performance on image quality and safety.
- Develop algorithmic and/ or systems hardware solutions for MR-guided therapy and interventional applications.
- Grow external collaborations with academic and industry partners through joint publications, grant submissions and advanced technology development.
- Work with clinicians to refine emerging technologies for clinical applications.
- Create intellectual property by generating invention disclosures and filing patents.
- Maintain external visibility through conference presentations and peer-reviewed journal publications.
Required Qualifications
- Ph.D. degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Chemistry, Computer Engineering, or other related fields, with at least 3 years of research experience.
- A demonstrated record of research and development outcomes as evidenced by peer-reviewed conference proceedings and journal publications.
- Strong fundamentals in MR imaging physics and sub-systems, signal processing and electromagnetic theory.
- Demonstrated strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to understand and address root causes of MR image quality issues in investigational prototypes.
- Proficiency in programming in C, Python and/ or simulation tools.
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. You will need to have valid, on-going authorization to work in the U.S.
- Must be willing to work out of an office located in Niskayuna, NY.
