Position Overview

The Preferred Therapy Center is actively seeking a dedicated and compassionate Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our team in Jersey City, New Jersey. This full-time position involves working closely with our licensed Physical Therapists to provide exceptional rehabilitative care to a diverse patient population in a hospital setting. Work Environment

This full-time PTA position is situated onsite at our state-of-the-art hospital facility in Jersey City, New Jersey. The dynamic environment encourages teamwork, learning, and professional growth. You will work regular shifts from Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional flexibility to accommodate patient needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist licensed Physical Therapists in creating and implementing customized treatment plans focused on rehabilitating patients and improving their mobility, strength, and overall functionality.
  • Guide patients through therapeutic exercises and provide support during activities designed to promote physical well-being and alleviate pain.
  • Educate patients on body mechanics, exercise techniques, and home exercise programs to enhance recovery processes.
  • Administer therapeutic modalities, including electrical stimulation and heat/cold therapy, under the supervision of a Physical Therapist.
  • Monitor and document patient progress meticulously, tracking key metrics such as range of motion, strength gains, and overall functional improvements.
  • Ensure treatment areas are prepared and maintained, keeping equipment organized and readily available for therapy sessions.
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary healthcare team, including Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and other specialists, to ensure coordinated and effective patient care.
  • Offer emotional support and motivation to patients throughout their rehabilitation journey, creating a nurturing environment.
  • Adhere strictly to ethical standards and professional guidelines, ensuring patient confidentiality and the highest level of care provision.

Patient Population / Client Focus

You will be working with a diverse clientele, ranging from pediatric to geriatric patients, who present with various physical challenges. This includes individuals recovering from sports injuries, post-surgical patients, and those dealing with chronic conditions. Qualifications

  • Successful completion of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program, culminating in an Associate’s degree.
  • A valid state license or certification as a Physical Therapist Assistant is required.
  • Strong foundational knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and various therapeutic interventions relevant to physical therapy.
  • Proficiency in the implementation of therapeutic exercises and modalities through collaborative efforts with a licensed Physical Therapist.

Compensation and Benefits
