Full job description

We’re looking for a skilled Tailor to join our retail team. Based directly in our store, you’ll work closely with customers and our sales team to provide expert fittings and alterations and help ensure every customer leaves with clothing that fits them properly.

This is a hands-on, customer-facing role for someone who takes pride in their craft, has a strong eye for fit and detail, and enjoys working in a fast-paced retail environment.


Responsibilities:

  • Perform high-quality alterations and repairs on Buck Mason garments, including hemming, tapering, sleeve adjustments, waist adjustments, and other fit modifications.
  • Conduct fittings with customers and make thoughtful recommendations based on their needs, preferences, and the construction of the garment.
  • Partner closely with the sales team to provide a seamless customer experience from purchase through final fitting.
  • Communicate clearly with customers about recommended alterations, timing, and garment care.
  • Manage alteration requests and ensure completed work is delivered accurately and on time.
  • Maintain a high standard of craftsmanship, consistency, and attention to detail.
  • Inspect garments before and after alterations to ensure quality.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional tailoring workspace within the store.
  • Properly operate and maintain sewing machines, tools, and equipment.
  • Support the broader store team during busy periods and contribute to an elevated store environment.
  • Share knowledge of garment construction, fit, and product details with the retail team.

    • Required Skills:

  • 2+ years of professional tailoring or alterations experience.
  • Strong sewing and garment construction skills.
  • Experience with menswear preferred.
  • A strong understanding of fit, proportion, and garment construction.
  • Excellent attention to detail and pride in craftsmanship.
  • Comfortable conducting fittings and working directly with customers.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple alteration requests while meeting deadlines.
  • Comfortable working independently while being an active part of a retail team.
  • A genuine appreciation for clothing, craftsmanship, and quality.
  • Flexibility to work a retail schedule, including weekends, holidays, and other high-volume periods as needed.
