This position is based onsite in a hospital facility located in the vibrant city of Long Beach, California. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care by executing therapy interventions as outlined in individualized care plans established by licensed physical therapists.
  • Administer therapeutic interventions, such as active and passive exercises, muscle reeducation techniques, and functional training to aid patients in achieving their rehabilitation goals.
  • Employ physical modalities, such as heat, ice, ultrasound, electrical stimulation, and massage, to facilitate pain relief and recovery.
  • Monitor and document each patient’s progress and response to treatments, relaying pertinent information to supervising therapists and participating in communication efforts within the healthcare team.
  • Instruct patients and their families in the proper use of rehabilitation equipment, ensuring safety and effective transition from the clinical space to home environments.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including clinical notes and patient records, to comply with organizational policies and state regulations.
  • Engage in continuous learning opportunities through participation in in-service training and quality assessment initiatives, enhancing both your skills and organizational service quality.
  • Fulfill additional duties as assigned by supervisory physical therapists, contributing to the ongoing improvement of patient care practices.

Patient Population / Client Focus

In this role, you will primarily serve a diverse patient population including individuals recovering from surgery, accident-related injuries, chronic pain conditions, and functional impairments. Your approach will support patients of varying ages and backgrounds, allowing you to make a meaningful impact on their rehabilitation journey. With a focus on personalized care, your work will help patients regain independence and improve their quality of life.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of an Associate's degree in Physical Therapy Assisting from an accredited institution, as recognized by the American Physical Therapy Association.
  • Current state licensure or certification as a Physical Therapist Assistant, in compliance with state law.
  • Certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) must be maintained.
  • A valid driver’s license with a reliable, insured vehicle, ensuring mobility for on-site patient visits when necessary.

Preferred Experience

Candidates with at least two years of experience working as a Physical Therapist Assistant in a clinical or hospital setting will be prioritized. Proficiency with electronic health record systems and a familiarity with patient care protocols will further enhance your application.

Compensation and Benefits
