Full job description

Our client is seeking a Greenhouse Technician to join their team. As a Greenhouse Technician, you will be part of the Controlled Environments Team supporting research operations at a four-acre facility. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in agriculture, horticulture, plant sciences or a related field.

Job Title: Greenhouse Technician

Location: Johnston, IA

Pay Range: $22.00/hour

Shift: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM (Thursday & Friday off)

What's the Job?

  • Support daily greenhouse functions including pollinating, harvesting, transplanting, watering, and seed handling for wheat and other crops.
  • Collect and prepare plant tissue samples for laboratory analysis, ensuring sample integrity for large volumes.
  • Assist with research experiments, data collection, and accurate record-keeping to support ongoing projects.
  • Maintain greenhouse sanitation by properly disposing of regulated materials and waste.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to ensure a safe, compliant, and efficient research environment.

What's Needed?

  • High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, horticulture, plant sciences, or related field preferred.
  • Two or more years of relevant experience is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and ability to learn internal research software.
