Full job description

  • The maintenance first line supervisor is the individual responsible for supervision of instrumentation and control, mechanical, and electrical maintenance activities. 

  • Lead the Nuclear Maintenance Planning and Procedures group to ensure safe, cost-effective, and compliant execution of all planning activities. 

  • Provide strategic oversight of mechanical, electrical, I&C, and modification planning, including preventive maintenance coordination and procedure development. 

  • Participate in scheduling and field implementation processes to ensure planning strategies are practical and efficient. 

  • Make long-range planning and organizational decisions to improve effectiveness and reduce costs. 

  • Serve as Maintenance Outage Manager when assigned, directing production and outage efforts across maintenance disciplines. 

  • Ensure readiness goals and milestones are met for outages and target weeks, incorporating feedback to improve work package quality and crew efficiency. 

  • Promote continuous improvement through benchmarking, industry involvement, and participation in working groups and assist visits. 

  • Establish goals, train and develop staff, and provide performance feedback and career guidance. 

  • Maintain strong working relationships with bargaining unit employees and ensure alignment with labor agreements. 

  • Own and maintain key procedures and guidelines, including NDAP-QA-0043, PSP 29, and Planning Directives. 

  • Actively participate in station committees such as Target Week Meetings, Core Team, and the Forced Outage Response Team (FORT). 

  • Support and perform Nuclear Emergency Response Organization (NERO) duties as qualified and assigned. 

Minimum Requirements 

  • High School diploma.  

  • Related experience which shall include 3 yrs.,  

  • Power plant experience which shall include 2 yrs,  

  • Nuclear power plant experience to 1 yr.,  

  • On-site experience to include 1/4 yr. 

 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related science. 

  • Seven (7) years of responsible nuclear power plant or applicable industrial experience, including at least one year in a nuclear power plant environment. 

  • Two (2) years of the required experience may be substituted with equivalent academic or technical training. 

  • Familiarity with non-destructive testing methods, craft practices, and applicable electrical, pressure vessel, and piping codes. 

  • Extensive knowledge of nuclear plant operations, demonstrated through a Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) license, Shift Technical Advisor qualification, plant-specific certification, or equivalent. 

  • Strong understanding of power plant systems, interactions, and operational impacts. 

  • Working knowledge of Susquehanna Technical Specifications, company policies, and station procedures. 

  • Demonstrated leadership and communication skills, with experience in union relations. 

  • Proficiency with planning and scheduling tools, including: 

  • NIMS: Work document planning, review, component information, and modification processes; understanding of work implementation and Work Management Process. 

  • P-3: Ability to analyze and evaluate work windows, logic ties, and resource loading; capable of generating and interpreting P-3 reports.
