🔧Diesel Mechanic

Location: Royal Waste- Queens NY
Schedule: Monday through Friday, starting at 7:00 PM, Saturdays until 1pm as needed.

Rate: $30–$40/hr, depending on experience

Employment Type: Full-time

Royal Waste Service , a Waste Connections Company is seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our maintenance team. This role is essential to keeping our fleet operating safely and reliably, and directly supports the service we provide to our drivers and the community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections, repairs, and diagnostics on diesel vehicles, including electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems

  • Interpret vehicle computer system failure codes and make necessary adjustments to engine and vehicle control modules

  • Review and complete repairs noted on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports

  • Accurately document services using fleet maintenance software

  • Conduct post-service test drives to ensure safety and performance

  • Collaborate with teammates on complex repairs

  • Maintain professional, courteous communication with drivers and team members

  • Keep workspaces clean and compliant with OSHA standards

  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned

What We're Looking For

  • Minimum 5 years of mechanic experience, preferably with diesel trucks

  • Strong skills in electrical and hydraulic systems

  • Well-rounded experience in mechanical and welding repairs

  • Familiarity with diesel vehicle diagnostics and preventative maintenance

  • Basic tool set required

  • Valid CDL Class B or A license, not required but a big plus

  • Ability to work independently within a shop environment

  • Commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork
