Program Summary

The U.S. Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command (TACOM) sustains the Army’s mission to develop, acquire, field, and sustain ground combat, tactical, and support systems throughout their lifecycle. The program focuses on ensuring operational readiness, reliability, and safety of automotive and ground support equipment critical to Army operations.

Under this contract, personnel provide maintenance, repair, overhaul, and sustainment support in accordance with Army technical manuals, safety standards, and performance requirements.

Job Summary

The Machinery Maintenance Mechanic performs maintenance, troubleshooting, inspection, and repair of power generation and support equipment, including generators and associated electrical/mechanical systems. This role ensures equipment operates safely and efficiently to support TACOM maintenance, logistics, and operational missions. Additionally, the support mechanic will conduct inspections and operational checks to ensure equipment reliability and readiness.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on power generation equipment (e.g., diesel generators, auxiliary power units)
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in power systems and related components
  • Repair or replace engines, alternators, control systems, wiring, and associated components
  • Perform load testing and functional verification of generators and power systems
  • Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams
  • Use diagnostic tools and test equipment to troubleshoot system issues
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, test results, and documentation
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards
  • Properly use personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow lockout/tagout procedures
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Support audits, inspections, and government reviews as required
  • Coordinate with supervisors, electricians, and maintenance personnel regarding system status and repairs

Basic Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; supplemental technical or vocational training preferred
  • Typically 3-5 years of experience maintaining or repairing power generation or electrical/mechanical systems
  • Working knowledge of diesel engines, generators, and electrical distribution systems
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams
  • Experience using diagnostic and electrical test equipment
  • Ability to perform work in physically demanding environments
  • Ability to obtain or maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (as required)
  • U.S. citizenship required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience supporting DoD, Army, or TACOM programs
  • Experience maintaining tactical or field power generation equipment
  • Familiarity with Army maintenance documentation and readiness reporting systems
  • Experience with load bank testing or generator certification processes
  • Prior government contracting experience

The salary range for this position is $47,700 - $71,600. Compensation offered will depend on qualifications, experience, work location, and business considerations. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target compensation for the position at the time of posting and may be modified in the future. Additional compensation and benefits may be available based on role eligibility.

Additional Information

This position will be a part of a physical work environment that requires standing, walking, and lifting. There is potential exposure to machinery, tools, fuels, oils, and outdoor conditions. Employees may also be required to work shifts, overtime, or weekend support based on mission needs.
