Position Details:

The Hospital of Central Connecticut is hiring a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join the General Surgery team, which covers a wide variety of subspecialties. The successful candidate will be responsible for various functions including first assisting in the OR, admissions, discharges, rounding, bedside procedures, and surgery consults. APPs will work in collaboration with several surgeons. The service currently covers General Surgery, Thoracic, Vascular, ENT, Colorectal, Urology, Breast, Endocrine, Surgical Oncology and Plastic Surgery.

Role: Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner

Location: 100 Grand Street, New Britain, 06050

Setting: Inpatient, general surgery

Schedule: Full-time (3x13’s), rotating schedule

Call schedule: No call

Physician Assistants/Nurse Practitioners Role Scope:

Under established guidelines and in collaboration and/or supervision with the practice physician(s), Physician Assistants/Nurse Practitioners perform routine physical examinations, and formulate medical, educational, and psychosocial plans to treat patients.

In consultation with the physician(s) and care team members, Physician Assistants/Nurse Practitioners develop plans for further evaluation of health needs, e.g., referral to other health team members or specialists.

Physician Assistants/Nurse Practitioners provide appropriate treatment for problems within the scope of the provider’s practice as designated by protocols and identifies problems outside of their scope of practice and refers appropriately to physician.

  • Licensure: Unrestricted State of Connecticut Medical License (or eligible)
  • Training: Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner
  • Experience: 1+ years of experience, preferably in a surgical or related setting

The hiring range reflects a good faith estimate of pay for this position as of the posting date. Actual pay will be determined based on qualifications, location, internal equity, and other factors that may include hire bonuses, incentive pay plans, loan repayment, administrative stipends, or relocation.
