Full job description
Join the Emergency Department at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center, where you'll care for patients across the full spectrum of emergency medicine in one of the region's busiest and most advanced emergency departments. As a Level II Trauma Center, Comprehensive Stroke Center, Designated Chest Pain Center, and Certified Geriatric Emergency Department, you'll have the opportunity to care for a diverse, high-acuity patient population while working alongside an experienced, collaborative team committed to delivering remarkable patient care.
Our 65-bed Emergency Department is built on a culture of teamwork, mentorship, and continuous learning. Nurse-to-patient ratios are designed to support safe, high-quality care, with 2:1 staffing for trauma and critical care patients, 3:1 for active emergency patients, and 4:1 for ED holds. Whether you're caring for life-threatening emergencies or helping stabilize patients before admission or discharge, you'll be supported by colleagues who value communication, collaboration, and helping one another succeed.
We're looking for compassionate, adaptable nurses who thrive in a fast-paced environment and are passionate about emergency nursing. Our team is deeply invested in professional growth, offering opportunities to earn certifications such as TNCC, cross-train in Pediatric Emergency and Behavioral Health Emergency, and work alongside Emergency Medicine residents. Many nurses who join our department choose to build long-term careers here because of the supportive culture, exceptional learning opportunities, and commitment to developing the next generation of emergency nurses.
What We're Looking For:
- Education: 4 Year / Bachelors Degree, preferred.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required. If your RN nursing license has been inactive, retired or lapsed for five years or more and you have not been licensed in another state during the last five years, successful completion of a Board approved refresher course is required prior to reactivating or reinstating your license. In order to be considered for current licensure status, you must apply for reinstatement within one year of completing the refresher course.
- Experience: One year relevant experience, preferred.
- Licensure/Certification: Current RN licensure in appropriate state, required.
