Position Overview
BodySync PT is actively seeking a dedicated and licensed Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to enhance our outpatient orthopedic division in the vibrant community of Newburgh, New York. Work Environment
The position is based onsite at our Newburgh hospital, equipped with state-of-the-art therapeutic equipment and technology. The standard working hours are Monday through Friday, from 9 AM to 5 PM, providing a stable schedule that allows for work-life balance.
Key Responsibilities
As a Physical Therapist Assistant, you will play a crucial role in implementing patient care plans developed by licensed physical therapists. Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering direct patient care based on tailored therapeutic interventions as prescribed by physicians or other state-authorized practitioners.
- Documenting patient progress and submitting necessary reports that comply with departmental protocols.
- Tracking patients' progress and maintaining accurate progress notes and discharge summaries to ensure continuity of care.
- Adhering to emergency procedures to guarantee patient safety and effectively managing crises when they arise.
- Engaging in quality improvement reviews to enhance service delivery and patient satisfaction.
- Participating in family meetings and care conferences to discuss assigned patients' treatment goals and progress.
- Performing additional responsibilities as needed, recognizing that all functions are essential to the role.
Patient Population / Client Focus
You will primarily work with patients recovering from orthopedic injuries, surgeries, or chronic conditions affecting their musculoskeletal system. This includes assisting postoperative patients as they regain mobility, strength, and functionality, while providing encouragement and addressing their emotional and psychological needs.
Qualifications
- Active and valid PTA license in New York State.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of two years of relevant experience in a healthcare or therapeutic setting.
- Proficient understanding of therapeutic exercises, manual therapy, and rehabilitation techniques.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, ensuring a patient-centered approach in care delivery.
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems is highly advantageous.
Preferred Experience
While two years of experience is mandatory, those with additional certifications or specialized training in orthopedic rehabilitation will stand out. Experience working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams is also a plus, as this role thrives on strong collaboration and shared goals.
Compensation and Benefits
