Full job description
Location: San Jose, CA
Salary Range: $60,000-$70,000
Employment Type: Full-Time | 10-Month School Year
We are seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable 5th Grade Elementary Math & Science Teacher who is passionate about helping students develop confidence in mathematics, explore scientific concepts through inquiry, and build the critical thinking skills they will use for years to come.
In this role, you'll teach upper elementary mathematics, including Algebra and Geometry concepts, along with engaging science instruction that encourages students to ask questions, investigate ideas, and connect learning to the world around them. Working alongside a collaborative team of educators, you'll create a classroom where every student feels challenged, supported, and inspired to reach their full potential.
What You'll Do

Teach engaging and rigorous 5th grade math, including Algebra and Geometry concepts, along with science curriculum aligned with Stratford School's academic standards.

Create meaningful, hands-on learning experiences that encourage curiosity, critical thinking, and problem-solving.

Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students.

Assess student learning through formal and informal evaluations and use data to guide instruction.

Foster a positive, organized, and inclusive classroom culture where students feel supported and motivated to learn.

Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and classroom activities.

Collaborate with grade-level teammates and school leadership to support student success and curriculum planning.

Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events.

Contribute to the vibrant Stratford School community through school-wide initiatives and activities.
What We're Looking For

Bachelor's degree required; degree in Mathematics, Science, Education, or a related field preferred.

Master's degree and/or teaching credential is a plus.

Two or more years of elementary teaching experience preferred.

Strong knowledge of upper elementary math and science instruction.

Excellent classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.

Passion for fostering student curiosity, confidence, and academic growth.

Collaborative mindset and commitment to continuous professional learning.

Ability to build strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
