Banner University Medicine, in partnership with the University of Arizona, is seeking a Physician Assistant to join our growing Orthopedic Surgery team in Tucson. This is an exciting opportunity to practice in a collaborative academic environment alongside fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeons, residents, medical students, and experienced Advanced Practice Providers while caring for a diverse patient population.


This position offers a blend of inpatient and outpatient responsibilities with exposure to a broad spectrum of orthopedic conditions and procedures. The successful candidate will become an integral member of a highly collaborative multidisciplinary team dedicated to delivering exceptional patient care, advancing medical education, and supporting clinical innovation.

  • Practice at both Banner University Medical Center - Main Campus and South Campus

Responsibilities

The Physician Assistant will work closely with the orthopedic team to:

  • Evaluate and manage orthopedic patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings

  • Perform comprehensive histories and physical examinations

  • Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physicians

  • Assist with perioperative and postoperative patient management

  • Provide patient and family education

  • Coordinate care across multidisciplinary teams

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record

Qualifications

  • Current, unrestricted Arizona Physician Assistant license (or ability to obtain prior to start)

  • Current prescribing privileges, including DEA registration for controlled substances

  • Current BLS and CPR certification

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Strong clinical decision-making and critical thinking abilities

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment

  • Surgical or orthopedic experience preferred, but not required

  • New graduates with a strong interest in orthopedics are encouraged to apply
